Who Should Attend?
Everyone! PTA officers, PTA members and child advocates! You will bring home ideas, valuable information, skills, materials, and ideas to share with your PTA.
What Should I Expect?
  • Leadership and program workshops
  • Idea sharing activities
  • Active voice in Indiana PTA issues
  • Exciting special guest speakers
  • Access to many exhibitors—find new ideas to raise funds for your programs
  • Celebrate with award winners
  • Opportunity to network and brainstorm with parents, state educational leaders, and state and national PTA officers
  • And much more!

Remember, this is a legitimate expense for your Unit or Council.

What Should I Bring?
  • Your current membership card from your local unit -- without it you will not be able to get your delegate credentials.
  • Your convention registration card -- the one that comes to you in the mail after you have sent in your completed registration form and fees.
  • An open mind.
  • An attitude to enjoy convention.
  • A desire to learn and share new ideas.
  • Comfortable shoes and clothing -- do not forget a sweater for those sometimes too cool meeting rooms.
  • Some money (you will definitely want to visit the boutique), a notebook and several pens or pencils.
  • Some empty space in the suitcase to take back information to your PTA.
Make the Most of Convention

Before convention:

  • Plan to enjoy the convention thoroughly. It is your meeting as much as anyone's and you have an opportunity to help make it a success.
  • Be informed. Study the proposed amendments to the bylaws and the report of the nominating committee. Be prepared to vote intelligently.
  • Make thoughtful preparation for the convention. Know the special needs of your PTA and try to determine the type of help you will be expected to bring back to your local unit.

During convention meetings and workshops:

  • Arrive on time for all meetings and workshops.
  • Wear your badge at all times so others may get to know you.
  • Take adequate notes to use in preparing your report to your local unit or council.
  • Take part in all events, discussions and voting.
  • Consider the needs of the PTA rather than your own personal interests.
  • Be friendly. Everyone at the convention is there for the same purpose — we believe in children and youth.
  • Share ideas and concerns that you have and seek out ideas and concerns from others.
  • Plan to stop by the exhibit hall and visit with our exhibitors who offer a broad spectrum of ideas, products and services.

When you return home:

  • Prepare your report while ideas are fresh in your mind.
  • Include the business transacted, the theme, main points of speeches and workshops, and information on the newly elected officers.
  • Share with your officers and building principal the materials contained in your packet and any other materials distributed to the delegates.

Have a good time!

2010 CONVENTION ADVERTISING AND SPONSORSHIPS

DATE:OCTOBER 2009

Each year the Indiana PTA seeks ways to raise non-dues revenue to support the work of this great association for the children of our state.  Since our annual convention is our main source of income in addition to membership, it is critical that we seek ways to reach out to councils, school districts, businesses and organizations to help us in this mission.
There are several ways that we can receive the needed support to continue our efforts for everychild.onevoice.
-
Businesses/Organizations may purchase advertising space in our Convention program, seen by all attendees from across the state.

- Businesses/Organizations may become a sponsor of the Indiana PTA and our mission, with sponsorship levels to fit every budget.

- Businesses/Organizations may promote themselves to all Convention delegates with an exhibitor's booth throughout the Convention weekend. .
